Editor's Note (July 2026): We recently received updated information directly from our UK Twins Special supplier regarding changes to the BGVL3 and BGVL4 glove range. As there has been very little public information available, we've put together this guide to explain exactly what's changing.
Twins BGVL3 vs BGVL4 – Understanding the Latest Changes
If you've been shopping for Twins Special boxing gloves over the past year, you may have noticed some confusion surrounding the BGVL3 and BGVL4 model names. After introducing the BGVL4 as the successor to the classic BGVL3, Twins has now updated its product strategy once again. Here's what the latest changes mean and which model you can expect to receive.
What's happening?
According to the latest information from our supplier, Twins is standardising its glove range as part of a wider restructuring of its products.
From the latest deliveries onwards:
- All plain colour leather gloves will now be produced as the BGVL3 model.
- All printed and graphic design gloves will continue to use the BGVL4 model designation (FBGVL4).
So, rather than replacing one model with another, Twins will continue manufacturing both versions alongside each other.
Why the change?
Twins has advised that this forms part of a wider move towards greater consistency across its product range, with several older product lines also being phased out to make way for new ones.
Although Twins hasn't released a detailed public statement explaining the decision, it makes sense for several reasons.
The BGVL3 is one of the most recognisable boxing gloves ever produced. For many years, customers around the world have specifically asked for "Twins BGVL3" gloves, making the model name almost synonymous with the brand itself.
By returning the classic plain leather gloves to the BGVL3 designation while keeping the more modern printed designs as BGVL4, Twins can preserve the identity of its iconic glove while still offering the newer construction in its fashion and limited-edition ranges.
Does this affect quality?
Not at all.
Both the BGVL3 and BGVL4 remain genuine handmade Twins Special boxing gloves manufactured in Thailand to the high standards the brand is known for.
The change is simply about which model designation is used for each style of glove.
Which one should you choose?
If you prefer a traditional, clean Twins look, the BGVL3 will be the model you'll see on plain colour gloves.
If you're looking for one of Twins' bold printed or graphic designs, these will continue to be available as FBGVL4 models.
Both remain part of the Twins Special range, giving customers the choice between the classic appearance and the newer printed collections.
Our thoughts
With so many customers recognising the BGVL3 name after years of popularity, this move should make the range easier to understand while allowing Twins to continue developing its eye-catching printed glove collection under the BGVL4 designation.
As new stock arrives, you'll begin to see this change reflected across our website. If you have any questions about the differences between the two models, feel free to get in touch—we're always happy to help.
What if I still want a plain BGVL4?
There is still a small window of opportunity.
Our supplier has confirmed that they will continue to sell their remaining stock of plain BGVL4 gloves until they are sold out, and these will remain available at the previous prices.
Once this stock has been exhausted, plain colour gloves will only be available as the BGVL3 model, while all printed and graphic design gloves will continue under the FBGVL4 designation.
So, if you've been considering a plain BGVL4, now is the ideal time to pick up a pair before they disappear from the range.
